Eastern Food Therapy: Find Out if Your Dog Is Healthy and Balanced

healthy

Have you ever wondered if your dog is actually healthy? Eastern Food Therapy (EFT) can tell you your dog’s health status quickly!

According to EFT, you can tell your dog’s ‘temperature’ by looking at their tongue color, eyes, and temperament. Your dog’s ‘temperature’ can be warm, neutral, or cool, and that will reveal whether they’re healthy (neutral) or whether they have an imbalance (cool or warm).

Let’s figure out what ‘temperature’ your dog is and find out how you can correct potential imbalances.

What ‘Temperature’ Is Your Dog?

Warm/Unbalanced

Here are the characteristics of a dog that’s warm:

  • Tongue color: Red
  • Eyes: Sunken & dry appearance
  • Temperament: High strung & aggressive
  • Health: Panting often, dry skin, & recurring hot spots

Neutral/Healthy and Balanced

Here are the characteristics of a neutral/healthy dog:

  • Tongue color: Pink
  • Eyes: Bright, alert & responsive
  • Temperament: Calm, not anxious, happy & upbeat
  • Health and energy: Healthy, athletic, & energetic

Cool/Unbalanced

Here are the characteristics of a cool dog:

  • Tongue color: Light pink/pale
  • Eyes: Slightly hazy, dull, or watery appearance
  • Temperament: Fearful, timid, & has separation anxiety
  • Health and energy: Lethargic & might catch colds frequently

Correct Imbalances with the RIGHT Food!

Did you find out your dog is cool or warm and has an imbalance? Don’t worry, you can help your dog get back to neutral with the right food!

According to EFT, foods can be warming, neutral, or cooling, and the RIGHT food will bring your dog back into balance and promote health from the inside out. Here’s how it works:

  • Dogs that are warm need food that has cooling energy. Cooling foods include rabbit, duck, duck liver, duck neck, pork lung, pollock, spinach, celery, kelp, and apples.
  • Dogs that are neutral/healthy can have warming, cooling, and neutral energy food. Some staple neutral energy foods include pork, beef, bison, beef heart, beef liver, salmon, green beans, shiitake mushrooms, carrots, sweet potato, nutritional yeast, and sesame seeds.
  • Dogs that are cool need food that has warming energy. Examples of warming foods are chicken, chicken hearts, lamb, eggs, pumpkin seeds, turmeric, oats, quinoa, and coconut oil.
